Sir Arthur Edward Middleton, 7th Bt. was born on 12 January 1838.2 He was the son of Charles Atticus Monck and Laura Ridley.1 He married Lady Constance Harriet Amherst, daughter of William Pitt Amherst, 2nd Earl Amherst of Arracan and Gertrude Percy, on 8 November 1871.2 He died on 1 April 1933 at age 95.2
Sir Arthur Edward Middleton, 7th Bt. was baptised with the name of Arthur Edward Monck.2 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).2 He succeeded to the title of 7th Baronet Middleton, of Belsay Castle, co. Northumberland [E., 1662] on 20 July 1867.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Northumberland.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Durham between 1874 and 1880.2 On 12 February 1876 his name was legally changed to Arthur Edward Middleton.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Northumberland in 1884.2

Andrew Agnew Maitland-Heriot was born on 3 April 1851.1 He was the son of Frederick Lewis Maitland-Heriot and Martha Agnew.1 He married, firstly, Annie Colquhoun Campbell, daughter of Neil Colquhoun Campbell, on 15 October 1884.1 He and Annie Colquhoun Campbell were divorced in 1886.1 He married, secondly, Gertrude Hamilton, daughter of Theophilius Hamilton, on 22 February 1887.1 He died on 30 April 1930 at age 79.1
