     Colonel John Campbell was born in 1673 at Torblaren, Glenaray, Argyllshire, ScotlandG.1 He was the son of Reverend Patrick Campbell and Jean McIver Campbell.1 He was baptised on 13 March 1673 at Kilmichael, Glassary, Argyllshire, ScotlandG.1 He married Elizabeth (?).2 He married Katherine Claiborne, daughter of Colonel unknown Clayborn, between 1700 and 1708 at JamaicaG.1 He died on 29 January 1740 at St. Elizabeth, JamaicaG.1
     Colonel John Campbell also went by the nick-name of John 'Black River'.1 He emigrated to JamaicaG, arriving on circa 1700.1
