Joseph George Morrogh Bernard was in the service of the Egyptian Army and Sudan Defence Forces.¹ He was invested as a Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1933.¹ He fought in the Palestine Campaign between 1936 and 1937, mentioned in despatches.¹ He fought in the Second World War, in France, Abyssinia, India, the Middle East and Austria. including the 101 Mission which took Emperor Haile Selassie back to Abyssinia from the Sudan.¹ He retired from the military in 1948, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.¹ As of 1976, Lt.-Col. Joseph George Morrogh Bernard lived at Fair Oak Lodge, Fair Oak, Hampshire, England.¹

     Major John Dominic Morrogh Bernard was born on 3 November 1934.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Col. Joseph George Morrogh Bernard and Nancy Mary Charlton.^2,1 He married Monica Julia Calvert, daughter of Major Robert Henry Calvert and Monica Buxton, on 23 June 1964.³ He died on 11 March 1968 at age 33 at Austria, as the result of a skiing accident.¹
