     Edmond James de Rothschild was born in 1845.1 He was the son of James Mayer de Rothschild and Betty Rothschild.2 He married Adelheid Rothschild, daughter of Wilhelm Carl Rothschild and Hannah Mathilde Rothschild, in 1877.1 He died in 1934.1
     He was the founder of Rishon le Zion and Zichron Yaacov.1

     He was educated at Geneva University, Geneva, SwitzerlandG.1 He was founder of La Compagnie Financière in 1953.1 He was a director of Banque Rothschild, Banque Privée Geneva and Château Clarke vineyard.2 He was president of Israel General Bank Tel Aviv.2 He was chairman of Isrop.2 He was awarded the Commander, Order of Arts and Letters of France in 1990.2 He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur in 1994.2
