     Lt.-Col. William Harding was born on 16 August 1792 at Upcott, Devon, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Robert Harding and Dionysia Wrey.1 He married Anne Elizabeth Jones on 20 January 1824 at Weedon, Northamptonshire, England.1,2 He died on 13 January 1886 at age 93 at Upcott, Devon, EnglandG.1 He was buried on 19 January 1886 at Pilton, Somerset, EnglandG.1
     He was educated between 1801 and 1807 at Blundell's School, Tiverton, Devon, EnglandG.3 He gained the rank of Ensign in 1812 in the 5th Foot.3 He fought in the Peninsular Wars between August 1812 and 1814.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1813 in the 95th Rifles.3 He gained the rank of Captain in 1823 in the 58th Foot.3 He gained the rank of Major in 1826.3 He retired from the military in 1841, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, late of the 2nd Foot.3 He wrote the book History of Tiverton, published 1847, 2 volumes.3 He was appointed Fellow, Geological Society (F.G.S.)3 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)1

William Long Wrey1

     William Long Wrey was born circa 1792 at Devon, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Reverend Bourchier William Wrey and Sophia Bethell.1 He married, firstly, Fanny Bird.1 He married, secondly, Frances (?) before 1861.1 He married, thirdly, Louisa Eizabeth Curson in 1883 at Devon, EnglandG.1 He died on 15 March 1886 at Teignmouth, Devon, EnglandG.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 19th Dragoons.2 In 1816 at CanadaG he was court martialed for conduct unbecoming a gentleman, and put on half-pay.1 He emigrated to Nelson, New ZealandG, arriving on 1851.1 In 1870 he returned to England.1
