     He was commissioned on 28 February 1821, in the service of the Royal Navy.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 1 May 1830.¹ He gained the rank of Commander on 3 July 1832.¹ He was Commander of the H.M.S. Fantôme on 28 October 1839.¹ He gained the rank of Captain on 23 November 1841.¹

     Elizabeth Mary Butterfield was born on 28 December 1817 at Beaufort Road, Chelsea, London, England^G.¹ She was the daughter of Rear-Admiral William Butterfield and Elizabeth Harris.¹ She married Dr. Robert Hunter Semple, son of Robert Semple, on 28 June 1843 at Petersfield, Hampshire, England^G.¹ She died in 1893 at St. Giles, London, England^G.¹
     From 28 June 1843, her married name became Semple.¹

     Hon. Caroline Sophia Wyndham was baptised on 10 September 1829 at Petworth, Sussex, England.³ She was the daughter of George Wyndham, 1st Baron Leconfield of Leconfield and Mary Fanny Blunt.^1,4 She married Colonel Sir Robert Nigel Fitzhardinge Kingscote, son of Colonel Thomas Henry Kingscote and Lady Isabella Anne Frances Somerset, on 13 March 1851 at Petworth, Sussex, England^G.^5,1 She died on 19 March 1852 at age 22, without issue.⁶
     From 13 March 1851, her married name became Kingscote.⁵

     Thomas Ashton Potter was born on 1 September 1848 at Buile Hill, Pendelton, Manchester, Lancashire, England^G.¹ He was the son of Thomas Bayley Potter and Mary Ashton.¹ He died on 20 September 1882 at age 34 at Orbost House, Dunvegan, Isle of Syke, Scotland^G, without issue.¹
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.¹

     John Crichton Stuart McDouall was born on 23 October 1844.¹ He was the son of John Crichton Stuart McDouall and Ellen Maria Fitzgerald.¹ He married Isabella (?) on 20 September 1905.¹ He died on 19 December 1923 at age 79.¹

     Isabella (?) married, firstly, John Gollan before 1905.¹ She married, secondly, John Crichton Stuart McDouall, son of John Crichton Stuart McDouall and Ellen Maria Fitzgerald, on 20 September 1905.¹ She died on 5 December 1944.¹
     From before 1905, her married name became Gollan.¹ From 20 September 1905, her married name became McDouall.

     Patrick James Crichton McDouall was born on 20 June 1848.¹ He was the son of John Crichton Stuart McDouall and Ellen Maria Fitzgerald.¹ He married Laura May Swanston, daughter of Charles Swanston, in 1883.¹ He died on 9 September 1943 at age 95.¹
