Reverend Richard Broun was the son of James Broun and Alison Brodie.1 He married Robina MacBride, daughter of Colonel Hugh MacBride, in 1765.1 He died on 13 December 1781.1

Robina MacBride was the daughter of Colonel Hugh MacBride.1 She married Reverend Richard Broun, son of James Broun and Alison Brodie, in 1765.1 She died on 5 February 1819.1

Sir James Broun of Mayfield, 7th Bt. was born on 12 March 1768.1 He was the son of Reverend Richard Broun and Robina MacBride.1 He married, firstly, Marion Henderson, daughter of Robert Henderson and Janet Carruthers, on 31 July 1798.1 He married, secondly, Janet Watson, daughter of Robert Watson, on 29 April 1835.1 He died on 30 November 1844 at age 76 at Moffat, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.1
Sir James Broun of Mayfield, 7th Bt. succeeded to the title of 7th Baronet Broun of Coulston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1686] on 13 December 1781, assuming the title on 19 March 1826 when his claim succeeded.1 He gained the rank of officer in the service of the 30th Foot, serving ten years in the West Indies during the Caribbean insurrection.1 In 1799 he raised a troop called the Lockerbie Volunteers.1 He lived at Coulston Park, Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.1
