Sir John Brookes, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir James Brookes, 2nd Bt. and Bridget Walker.1 He died on 26 January 1770 at Scawton-on-the-Moor, Yorkshire, England, unmarried.1 He died intestate and his estate was administered to his cousin, Anthony Procter on 15 November 1770.1
He was a lunatic for many years before his death.1 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Brookes, of York [E., 1676] on 28 August 1742.1
On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.1
