     Ian Archibald James Duff was born on 20 January 1895.² He was the son of Reverend Charles Edmund Duff and Mary Susan Smith.³ He married Kathleen Frances Chinnery-Haldane, daughter of Patrick Vernon Chinnery-Haldane and Rebecca Clara Anna Helen Monteith, on 30 August 1916.³ He died in 1949, killed in a motor accident.²
     He was educated at Aldenham School, Elstree, Hertfordshire, England^G.² He fought in the First World War.² He gained the rank of Captain in the Dorset Regiment.³ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)³ He gained the rank of in the Royal Air Force.³ He graduated from Trinity Hall, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England^G, in 1921 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)²

     Kathleen Frances Chinnery-Haldane was born on 16 May 1896.¹ She was the daughter of Patrick Vernon Chinnery-Haldane and Rebecca Clara Anna Helen Monteith.² She married Ian Archibald James Duff, son of Reverend Charles Edmund Duff and Mary Susan Smith, on 30 August 1916.¹ She died on 26 March 1932 at age 35.¹
     From 30 August 1916, her married name became Duff.³

     Dr. Sheila Mary Helen Duff was born on 29 December 1918.¹ She was the daughter of Ian Archibald James Duff and Kathleen Frances Chinnery-Haldane.¹ She died on 8 September 1955 at age 36, in a car accident.¹
