     Sir Harold Leslie Boyce, 1st Bt. was born on 9 July 1895.1 He was the son of Charles MacLeay Boyce and Ethel May Thorne.1 He married Maybery Browse Bevan, daughter of Edward Philip Bevan, on 16 July 1926.1 He died on 30 May 1955 at age 59.1
     He was educated at Sydney Grammar School, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.1 He fought in the First World War, in the Australian Imperial Force.1 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1920 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He was legal advisor to the League of Nations in 1922.1 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1922 entitled to practice as a barrister.1 He was technical advisor to the Australian Representative to the Permanent Mandates Commission in 1922.1 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1924 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was chairman and managing director of the Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Gloucester between 1929 and 1945.1 He was member of the Empire Parliamentary Delegation of Northern Rhodesia in 1930.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Gloucestershire between 1941 and 1942.1 He was invested as a Knight, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.St.J.).1 He was Leader of the U.K. Mission to China in 1946.1 He held the office of Sheriff of the City of London between 1947 and 1948.1 He held the office of Lord Mayor of London between 1951 and 1952.1 He was created 1st Baronet Boyce, of Badgeworth, co.
