     William Herring Cooper was born at Kilfrea, County Kilkenny, Ireland.1 He was the son of Major Harman Herring Cooper.1 He married Barbara Harriet FitzMaurice, daughter of Captain James FitzMaurice and Harriett Thomas, on 30 July 1855 at Killeshin Parish Church, Killeshin, County Carlow, Ireland.1 He died on 12 October 1892.1

     From 21 February 1884, her married name became FitzMaurice.1
