Sir John William Ramsay, 13th Earl of Dalhousie was born on 29 January 1847 at Aberdour House, Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.2 He was the son of Admiral George Ramsay, 12th Earl of Dalhousie and Sarah Frances Robertson.1 He married Lady Ida Louisa Bennet, daughter of Charles Augustus Bennet, 6th Earl of Tankerville and Lady Olivia Montagu, on 6 December 1877 at St. James, Westminster, London, England.2 He died on 25 November 1887 at age 40 at Hotel Frascati, Le Havre, France.2
Sir John William Ramsay, 13th Earl of Dalhousie gained the rank of Commander in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He held the office of Equerry to HRH The Duke of Edinburgh between 1874 and 1876.1 He held the office of Extra Equerry to HRH The Duke of Edinburgh between 1876 and 1880.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Liverpool in 1880.1 He held the office of Lord-in-Waiting in Ordinary to HM Queen Victoria between 1880 and 1885.1 He succeeded to the title of 13th Earl of Dalhousie, co. Midlothian [S., 1633] on 20 July 1880.1 He succeeded to the title of 14th Lord Ramsay of Dalhousie [S., 1619] on 20 July 1880.1 He succeeded to the title of 13th Lord Ramsay of Carrington [S., 1633] on 20 July 1880.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baron Ramsay of Glenmark, co. Forfar [U.K., 1875] on 20 July 1880.1 He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Thistle (K.T.) in 1881.1 He held the office of Secretary of State for Scotland in 1886.1 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1886.1

Susan Anne Armstrong-Jones was the daughter of Ronald Owen Lloyd Armstrong-Jones and Anne Messel, Countess of Rosse.1 She married Sir John Eustace Vesey, 6th Viscount de Vesci of Abbey Leix, son of Colonel Hon. Thomas Eustace Vesey and Lady Cecilia Kathleen Browne, on 20 May 1950.1 She died in 1986.1
