John Galwey was the son of Edward Galwey and Ellen Goold.1 He married Elizabeth Meade, daughter of Lt.-Col. William Meade and Elizabeth Travers, on 14 January 1674.1 He died from February 1711/12 to February 1712/13.1 His will (dated February 1711/12) was probated on 17 February 1712/13.1
John Galwey was admitted to King's Inn, Dublin.1 He was also known as John Galway.2 He was admitted to Gray's Inn on 16 May 1668 entitled to practice as a Barrister-at-Law.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cork in 1689.1 In 1690 his estates were forfeited for adhering to the Jacobite cause.1 He was a Commissioner for applotting tax for County Cork on 10 April 1690.1 On 1 August 1695 he received a Royal Pardon.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Cork.1 He lived at Lota, County Cork, Ireland.1
