     Sir John Birt, Baron Birt was born on 10 December 1944.1 He is the son of Leo Vincent Birt and Ida Hamilton.1 He married, firstly, Jane Frances Lake, daughter of James Harris Lake, in 1965.1 He and Jane Frances Lake were divorced in February 2006.2 He married, secondly, Eithne Wallis on 18 November 2006 at Clerkenwell, London, England.2
     Sir John Birt, Baron Birt was educated at St. Mary's College, Liverpool, England.1 He graduated from St. Catherine's College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was producer of Nice Time between 1968 and 1969.1 He was producer of The Frost Programme between 1971 and 1972.1 He was with London Weekend Television between 1974 and 1987.1 He was producer of The Nixon Interviews in 1977.1 He was with the BBC between 1987 and 2000.1 He graduated from Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool, England, in 1992 with a Honorary Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.).1 He was decorated with the Emmy Award in 1995.1 He graduated from City University, London, England, in 1998 with a Honorary Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.).1 He was invested as a Knight in 1998.1 He graduated from Bradford University, Bradford, Yorkshire, England, in 1999 with a Honorary Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.).1 He was created Baron Birt, of Liverpool in the County of Merseyside [U.K. Life Peer] on 11 February 2000.1

     Jane Frances Lake is the daughter of James Harris Lake.1 She married Sir John Birt, Baron Birt, son of Leo Vincent Birt and Ida Hamilton, in 1965.1 She and Sir John Birt, Baron Birt were divorced in February 2006.2
     From 1965, her married name became Birt.1 As a result of her marriage, Jane Frances Lake was styled as Baroness Birt on 11 February 2000.
