     Joseph Bell of Blackethouse was born on 25 November 1786.1 He was the son of Benjamin Bell of Blackethouse and Grizel Hamilton.1 He married Robert Craigie, daughter of David Craigie of Dumbarnie, on 20 June 1809.1 He died on 22 January 1848 at age 61.1
     Joseph Bell of Blackethouse was invested as a Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (F.R.C.S.E.) in 1808.1
     He also had two daughters, both of whom died without issue.1
