     Charles Gipps Hamilton was born on 27 June 1857.1 He was the son of Edward William Terrick Hamilton and Ann Thacker.1 He married Anna Gertrude Montgomerie Lang, daughter of Hugh Morris Lang and Margaret Graham, on 28 September 1892.1 He died on 8 June 1955 at age 97.1
     He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to Inner Temple entitled to practise as a Barrister-at-Law.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.)1
