William Bastard was born on 1 September 1727.1 He was the son of Pollexfen Bastard and Bridget Poulett.1 He was baptised on 5 September 1727 at Yealmpton, Devon, England.1 He married Anne Worsley, daughter of Thomas Worsley, before 1756.1 He died in 1782.1
William Bastard matriculated at Christ Church College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, on 18 May 1747.1
In September 1779 he was gazetted a Baronet, but the warrant never passed the Seals. This was for his actions when a French fleet was apparantly about to land at Plymouth, and he conducted the numerous French prisoners confined there to Exeter.1 He lived at Kitley, Devon, England.1

Anne Worsley was the daughter of Thomas Worsley.1 She married William Bastard, son of Pollexfen Bastard and Bridget Poulett, before 1756.1 She died in 1765.1

Sir Thomas Bateman, 1st and last Bt. was baptised on 29 September 1622 at St. Dunstan's-in-the-East, London, England.1 He was the son of Robert Bateman and Elizabeth Westrow.1 He married Elizabeth Middleton.1 He died circa October 1685, without survivng male issue.1 He was buried on 13 October 1685 at St. Margaret's, Lothbury, London, England.1
