     Sir Rowland Hirst Barran was born on 7 August 1858.1 He was the son of Sir John Barran, 1st Bt. and Ann Hirst.1 He married, firstly, Rose Cardew Bradley, daughter of Reverend Gilbert Bradley, on 10 February 1887.1 He and Rose Cardew Bradley were divorced in 1899.1 He married, secondly, Louise Buchanan Brown, daughter of J. Stevenson Brown, on 7 April 1909.1 He died on 6 August 1949 at age 90.1
     Sir Rowland Hirst Barran held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for North Leeds between 1901 and 1918.1 He was invested as a Knight in 1917.1

     Rose Cardew Bradley was the daughter of Reverend Gilbert Bradley.1 She married Sir Rowland Hirst Barran, son of Sir John Barran, 1st Bt. and Ann Hirst, on 10 February 1887.1 She and Sir Rowland Hirst Barran were divorced in 1899.1 She died on 19 January 1952.1
     From 10 February 1887, her married name became Barran.1

Alistair George Hay-Drummond and Hon. Camilla Dagmar Violet Greville, on 12 March 1917.1 He died on 19 March 1919 at age 31, while on active service.1
     Captain Rowland Noel Barran gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 2nd Life Guards.1
