     Philip Austyn Barran was born on 20 March 1876.1 He was the son of John Barran and Eliza Henrietta Nicholson.1 He married Dorothy Currer Briggs, daughter of Arthur Currer Briggs, on 2 January 1908.1 He died on 8 February 1953 at age 76.1
     He was educated at Christ's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He gained the rank of Major in the West Riding Brigade, Royal Field Artillery (Territorial Force.)1 He was chairman of Leeds Maternity Hospital.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Leeds.1

Dorothy Currer Briggs1

     Dorothy Currer Briggs was born in 1884 at Leeds, Yorkshire, England.2 She was the daughter of Arthur Currer Briggs.1 She married Philip Austyn Barran, son of John Barran and Eliza Henrietta Nicholson, on 2 January 1908.1 She died on 30 January 1956.1
     From 2 January 1908, her married name became Barran.1

     F/Lt. Philip Henry Barran was born on 20 April 1909.1 He was the son of Philip Austyn Barran and Dorothy Currer Briggs.1 He died on 11 July 1940 at age 31, killed in action.1
     He gained the rank of Flight Lieutenant in the Auxiliary Air Force.1 He fought in the Battle of Britain.1

     Arthur Haworth Barran was born on 14 April 1911.1 He was the son of Philip Austyn Barran and Dorothy Currer Briggs.1 He married Rosa Greenwood, daughter of John Russell Greenwood, on 27 March 1945.1 He died on 2 May 1991 at age 80 at Taupo, New Zealand.1,2
     Arthur Haworth Barran usually went by his middle name of Haworth.1 He was educated at Repton School, Repton, Derbyshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1933 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1
