     Lt.-Col. Alexander Agnew, 3rd of Dalreagle was the son of Patrick Agnew, 2nd of Dalreagle and Mary Stewart.1 He married Penelope Agnew, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir Andrew Agnew of Lochnaw, 5th Bt. and Eleanora Agnew, in 1763.1 He died in 1768 at London, EnglandG.1
     He graduated from Glasgow University, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG, in 1750 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was admitted to an Advocate in 1754.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.1 He held the office of Judge-Advocate for North Britain.1

     Maj.-Gen. Patrick Alexander Agnew, 4th of Dalreagle was born in 1764.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Alexander Agnew, 3rd of Dalreagle and Penelope Agnew.2,1 He married Margaret Mackintosh, daughter of John Mackintosh and Ann (?), circa 1798.1 He died in 1813 at Walcot, Bath, Somerset, EnglandG.1
     He gained the rank of Major-General in 1811 in the Honourable East India Company Service.1
