Sir James Wilson Agnew1

     Sir James Wilson Agnew was born on 2 October 1815 at Ballyclare, IrelandG.1 He was the son of James William Agnew and Ellen Stewart.1 He married, firstly, Louisa Mary Fraser, daughter of Major J. Fraser, on 27 April 1846.1 He married, secondly, Blanche Legge, daughter of William Legge, in 1878.1 He died on 8 November 1901 at age 86 at Hobart, Tasmania, AustraliaG.2,3
     He graduated from University of Glasgow, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, ScotlandG, with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)1 He was registered as a Member, Royal College of Surgeons (M.R.C.S.)1 He held the office of Premier of Tasmania between 8 March 1886 and 29 March 1887.1,3 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1894.3 He lived at Hobart, Tasmania, AustraliaG.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.3

     Blanche Legge was the daughter of William Legge.1 She married, firstly, Reverend Dr. unknown Parsons before 1878.2 She married, secondly, Sir James Wilson Agnew, son of James William Agnew and Ellen Stewart, in 1878.1 She died on 16 December 1891, without issue.2
     From before 1878, her married name became Parsons.2 From 1878, her married name became Agnew.1
