     Margaret Agnew was the daughter of Robert Agnew, 3rd of Sheuchan and Margaret McDowall.1 She married John Vans Agnew of Barnbarroch, son of Colonel Patrick Vans of Barnbarroch and Barbara McDowall, in 1747.2
     She was the heiress of Sheuchan.1 From 1747, her married name became Vans Agnew.2

     John Vans Agnew of Barnbarroch was born in 1724.1 He is the son of Colonel Patrick Vans of Barnbarroch and Barbara McDowall.1 He married Margaret Agnew, daughter of Robert Agnew, 3rd of Sheuchan and Margaret McDowall, in 1747.1 He died in 1780.1
     John Vans Agnew of Barnbarroch was baptised with the name of John Vans.1 He lived at Barnbarroch, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.2
