     Captain Augustus Maynard Douglas-Hamilton was born on 29 November 1854 at Simla, India.1,2 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Octavius Douglas-Hamilton and Katherine Augusta Westenra Macleod.1 He married Frances Wilhelmina Cloete, daughter of Dirk Cloete and Johanna Reinetta Catherina van Oosterzee, on 4 August 1909.1 He died on 19 August 1928 at age 73 at London, England.1,2
     Captain Augustus Maynard Douglas-Hamilton gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 4th Battalion, East Surrey Regiment.1

     Dirk Cloete was born on 24 April 1820 at Wynberg, Cape Province, South Africa.2 He was the son of Hendrik Cloete and Anna Gesina Borcherds.2 He married Johanna Reinetta Catherina van Oosterzee, daughter of Dr. Johannes Knockers van Oosterzee and Augusta Wilhelmina Magdalena Thalman.2 He died on 23 June 1894 at age 74 at Wynberg, Cape Province, South Africa.2
     Dirk Cloete was also known as David Cloete. He lived at Alphen, Wynberg, Cape Province, South Africa.1

Octavius Douglas-Hamilton and Katherine Augusta Westenra Macleod, on 10 September 1890.1 She died on 5 January 1948 at age 87.1

     Captain George Alexander Whitla was born in 1818 at Crumlin, County Antrim, Ireland.2 He was the son of James Whitla and Catherine Gunning.2 He married Isabella Frances Hammond, daughter of Reverend John Hammond and Harriet (?), in 1858.2 He died on 3 August 1867 at Torquay, Devon, England.2
     Captain George Alexander Whitla held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).2 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Antrim Rifles.2 He lived at Ben Eadan, Scotland.1

     Major Angus Falconer Douglas-Hamilton, V.C. was born on 20 August 1863.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Octavius Douglas-Hamilton and Katherine Augusta Westenra Macleod.1 He married Anna Watson Mackenzie, daughter of Captain Alexander Watson Mackenzie, on 1 August 1894.1 He died on 26 September 1915 at age 52 at Loos, France, killed in action.1
     Major Angus Falconer Douglas-Hamilton, V.C. gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 6th Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the 79th Cameron Highlanders.1 He fought in the Sudan Expedition from 1884 to 1885.1 He fought in the Sudan Expedition from 1885 to 1886.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1915, where he was mentioned in despatches.1
