     Lt.-Col. Aubrey Vere Spencer was born on 4 April 1886.1 He was the son of Aubrey John Spencer and Florence Mary Janson.1 He married Gwendoline Esther Hall Murton, daughter of George Neames Murton, on 15 September 1926.1 He died on 7 June 1973 at age 87.1
     Lt.-Col. Aubrey Vere Spencer was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England.1 He was educated at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, Wye, Kent, England.1 He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1914.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1914 in the service of the 3rd Battalion Ox and Bucks Light Infantry.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, being mentioned in despatches.1 He graduated from Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1929 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was invested as a Fellow, Chartered Land Agents' Society (F.L.A.S.).1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Oxfordshire in 1938.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) in 1944.1 He was a Land Agent to Oxford University in 1946.1 He held the office of High Sheriff in 1959.1 He was admitted to Chartered Surveyor's Association (P.A.S.I.).1

     Gwendoline Esther Hall Murton was the daughter of George Neames Murton.1 She married Captain Claude Holdsworth Hunt before 1926.1 She married Lt.-Col. Aubrey Vere Spencer, son of Aubrey John Spencer and Florence Mary Janson, on 15 September 1926.1 She died on 24 September 1968.1
     From 15 September 1926, her married name became Spencer.
