Sir John Stawell1

     Sir John Stawell was born on 29 August 1600.1 He was the son of Sir John Stawell and Lady Elizabeth Tuchet.1 He married Elizabeth Hext, daughter of Sir Edward Hext and Dionysia Stonhouse, on 9 December 1617.1 He died on 21 February 1662 at age 61.1
     He lived at Cothelstone, Somerset, England.1 He was educated at Queen's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Somerset in 1625.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) on 1 February 1626.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Somerset between 1640 and 1642.1 He gained the rank of Colonel of Horse between 1642 and 1646 in the Royalist Army.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Somerset from 1661 to 1662.1
