     Walter George Donnington Hungerford was born on 8 March 1911 at London, Ontario, Canada.1,2 He was the son of Walter Francis Hugh Watson Hungerford and Maud Margaret Maclaren.1 He married Elizabeth Amelia Anne Piers Dumas, daughter of Gerald Piers Dumas, on 9 March 1940.1 He died on 26 January 2003 at age 91 at Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.2

     He graduated from University College London, London, EnglandG, in 1847 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons (F.R.C.S.) in 1852.1 He graduated from University College London, London, EnglandG, in 1852 with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.)1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (F.R.C.S.E.) in 1855.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1860.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG, in 1878.1 He was created 1st Baronet Lister [U.K.] on 26 December 1883.1 He held the office of President of the Royal Society between 1895 and 1900.1 He was created 1st Baron Lister, of Lyme Regis, co.
