     Neil, 2nd Earl of Carrick was born circa 1202. He was the son of Duncan, 1st Earl of Carrick. He married Margaret Stewart, daughter of Walter Stewart, 3rd High Steward of Scotland and Beatrix of Angus, in 1234.2 He died in 1256.2
     He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Carrick [S., c. 1186] on 13 June 1250.2 He held the office of Regent of Scotland on 20 September 1255, and Guardian of King Alexander III.2

     Margaret de Lusignan was the daughter of Hugues X de Lusignan, Comte de La Marche and Isabella d'Angoulême.2 She married Raimond VII, Comte de Toulouse, son of Raimond VI, Comte de Toulouse and Joan Plantagenet, between 1241 and 1245.1 She and Raimond VII, Comte de Toulouse were divorced in 1245.3 She married Aymer de Thouars, Viscount of Thoaurs after 1245.3 She married Geoffrey de Châteaubriand, Signeur de Châteaubriand.3 She died in 1283.3
     She was also known as Marguerite de la Marche.
