     James Drogo Montagu was born on 10 July 1878 at St. Saviour, Jersey, Channel IslandsG.1 He was the son of George Edward Montagu and Annie Mary Augusta Delvin.2 He died on 1 August 1958 at age 80, unmarried.1
     He fought in the Boer War.3 He held the office of Governor of Cyprus.1 He was Commissioner of Nicosia and Kyrenia, Cyprus in 1934.3 He held the office of Member of the Legislative Council (M.L.C.) [Cyprus] between 1935 and 1939.3 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1937.1 He was Lieutenant, 5th Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles.3
