     William Robert Lucas Cusack-Smith was born on 29 September 1832.2 He was the son of Rt. Hon. Thomas Berry Cusack-Smith and Louisa Smith-Barry.2 He married Mary Blanche Chisenhale, daughter of John Chisenhale Chisenhale, on 20 August 1856.2 He died on 31 July 1887 at age 54.2
     He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the 5th Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers.2 He was a practising barrister-at-law.2
