     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Scots Guards.1 He graduated from Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1922 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General of Canada.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1959.1
