     Colonel John Picton-Turbervill was born on 6 November 1837 at Allahabad, Bengal, India.1 He was the son of Thomas Warlow and Dr. Mary Prudence Ord.1 He married Josephine Hamilton in 1860 at Madras, Bengal, India.1 He married Eleanor Temple, daughter of Grenville Temple and Mary Baring, on 11 September 1866 at The Parish Church, Hamsey, Sussex, England.1 He married Caroline Frances Miller on 19 February 1899 at South Kensingtopn, London, England.1 He died on 24 March 1924 at age 86 at Ewenny Priory, Bridgend, Glamorgan, Wales.1
     He was given the name of John Picton Picton-Warlow at birth.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Madras Staff Corps.2 In 1891 his name was legally changed to John Picton-Turbervill.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Glamorgan in 1896.1
