     James Lyster was born on 27 February 1780.1 He was the son of Matthew West and Mary Ann Roan.1 He married Margaret Lyster, daughter of William Lyster and Margaret Gunning, on 23 July 1805.1 He died, without issue.1
     He was given the name of James West at birth.1 In 1805 his name was legally changed to James Lyster.1
