Captain Alfred Charles Dewar was educated at Blairlodge School, Polmont, Stirlingshire, Scotland.1 He was Head of the Historial Section, Naval Intelligence during the First World War.1 He graduated from New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1917 with a Bachelor of Literature (B.Litt.).1 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1918.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Historical Society (F.R.Hist.S.).1 He was with the Naval Staff, Admiralty between 1926 and 1948.1 He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1948.1
