Frederick Barnewall Best was born on 18 August 1827.2 He was the son of William Samuel Best, 2nd Baron Wynford and Jane Thoyts.3 He married, firstly, Charlotte Elizabeth Hart Dyke, daughter of Francis Hart Dyke and Charlotte Lascelles Fust, on 9 June 1864.4 He married, secondly, Frances Hinton Northcote, daughter of Henry Northcote, on 24 November 1870.2 He died on 5 January 1876 at age 48.4
     He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 2nd Bengal Fusiliers.4 He was Captain 2nd Bengal Fus, memb Gentlemen-at-Arms.2
