     David Hight was born in 1830 at Broughton, Northamptonshire, England.2 He was the son of Samuel Hight and Mary Ann Ward.1 He married Ann Smith.3 He died in 1874 at Baileys Hotel, Kowhai Pass, New Zealand, apoplexy He was attending a dinner on his behalf as he was about to leave the district. As he rose to speak, he dropped dead with apoplexy..2
     David and Ann Smith immigrated to Lyttelton, Canterbury, New Zealand on the ship Indianna, arriving on November 1858.2 He was a farmer from 1859 to 1874 at Springfield, Canterbury, New Zealand.2
