Major Robert Stannus1

     Major Robert Stannus was born in August 1786.2 He was the son of Ephraim Stannus and Susanna Gerrish.2 He married Clotilda Bona Graves, daughter of Maj.-Gen. James William Graves and Marie Victoire Black.1
     He gained the rank of Major in the service of the 29th Regiment.1 He fought in the Peninsular Wars, where he was wounded five times.2
