     William Proby was the son of Charles Proby and unknown Torriano.1 He married Henrietta Cornwall, daughter of Robert Cornwall.1 He died in January 1739.1
     William Proby held the office of Governor of Fort St. George, Madras.1 He lived at Elton, Huntingdonshire, England.1 He lived at Rans, Buckinghamshire, England.1
