I wish to know if anyone out there can identify this lineage ...
Baron Frederick Marquordt was born a Huguenot in Alsace Lorraine or
Sachsen in the late 1880"s he married an Alice who was Swiss by birth she became Baroness .
They travelled to South Africa via London and had 2 children Dorothy and Frederick.
On to Ethiopia visited Queen Menelik II.
I do have pictures ,of Baron and Baroness Von Marquordt and their son taken in Sth.Africa
The spelling of Marquordt is exact, looking forward to any news ,great site too Sandra _________________ Helping solve the past for a cousin,I am her arms and legs. |

Hi portman7,
Thanks for the help ,I have tried 2 of those sites, and have had more results from the web (Google)
We are now paying a genealogist for some records as we now have leads that the Marquordt's in our family were originally of a German area , but it is now France and it is easier to get help form a native French person.
My cousin and I have had some wonderful luck with old museum records as von Marquordt (Fred) was a member of a few Ethnology societies.Found a marvelous newspaper article from 1908 when Fred was in Ethiopia when working for Menelik 11.
Also that the von was dropped by Fred's father or Grandfather this still fascinates us so we are still searching all possibilities
Still on our quest Sandra _________________ Helping solve the past for a cousin,I am her arms and legs. |
