The engagement was announced, 31 March, 2001, between Mr Hugh Craigie Halkett, son of Lieutenant-Colonel and Mrs Charles Craigie Halkett, of Glentromie, Inverness-shire, and Miss Clare Anne Arbuthnott, [b. 1974], elder daughter of the Master of Arbuthnott [the Hon [John] Keith Oxley Arbuthnott], and his wife, the former Jill Mary Farquharson.
The bride-to-be is a granddaughter of the 16th Viscount of Arbuthnott, CBE, DSC, FRSE, and has two younger siblings, a brother, Christopher Keith, b. 1977, and a sister, Rachel Sarah, b. 1979.

_The Viscountess of Arbuthnott, wife of the 16th Viscount, died 16
January, 2010, aged 86. She was the former Mary Elizabeth Darley
Oxley, dau of Cdr Christopher Bernard Oxley, and married the then John
Campbell Arbuthnott, 3 Sept, 1949. Her husband succeeded to the
peerage, 15 Dec 1966. She leaves issue. Funeral Service at St
Laurence's Episcopal Church, Laurencekirk on Friday 22 January, 2010.
