If the asassination attempt against Kaiser Wilhelm II in 1901 had been succesful, who would have ruled in his place? His oldest son Kronprinz Wilhelm was 9 years old.
I assume that his brother Heinrich would have been installed as a caretaker monarch - what would his title have been?
At what age would Kronprinz Wilhelm have been considered to have attained his majority? 18? 21?
Thank you in advance. |

The Crown Prince would actually have turned nineteen in 1901, having been born in 1882. I'm not sure when he would have been considered to have attained his majority, but I know a British sovereign at this time would not have needed a Regency if they were at least eighteen when they inherited the throne.
A putative Regent in the German Reich of 1901 would no doubt have simply been called Regent. _________________ Men who do not wear fine cloaths can feel deeply. |

Baronmore, thank you for your response, of course he would be 19 - I cannot add!
Just hypothetically would it be 'Regent' or 'Prinzregent'? |
Just hypothetically would it be 'Regent' or 'Prinzregent'?
'Prinzregent' probably, as this is the form that the Regent of Bavaria took from the period of 1886 to 1913 (during all of King Otto's reign). _________________ Men who do not wear fine cloaths can feel deeply. |
