Adeline, Baroness Ampthill, third wife, and widow, of Captain the 3rd Baron Ampthill, CBE (1896-1973), died 22 June, 2004, at the age of 94.

She was the former Adeline Mary Constance Hone, eldest daughter of Canon Henry Evelyn Hone, MA, late Vicar and Rural Dean of Godalming, Surrey, by his wife, Adeline Mabel Ellen, only daughter of Frederick George Alexander Lane, JP, of that landed family.

She married Lord Ampthill as his third wife, 24 July, 1948. Her husband was a grandson of Lord Odo William Russell (a brother of the 9th Duke of Bedford), who was created Baron Ampthill, in 1881.

Two children were born of the union, a son, John Hugo Trenchard, in 1950, and a daughter, Georgiana Adelaide Villiers, in 1953. On the death of her husband in 1973, his son, Geoffrey, born in 1921 ( subject of the famous *Ampthill Baby Case* issue of the 3rd Baron's first controversial marriage to Christabel) petitioned HM The Queen for a Writ of Summons as Baron Ampthill, and the Committee of Privileges of the House of Lords decided in his favour in 1976.

The funeral takes place at St Michael's Church, Chenies, Buckinghamshire, Friday 2 July, 2004.

The marriage took place, 6 July, 2002, in Rye, East Sussex, between the Hon. David Whitney Erskine Russell, (b. 27 May, 1947), eldest son and heir of the 4th Baron Ampthill and the late Mrs Susan Remington-Hobbs, and Tia, widow of Prince Rostislav Romanoff.

Princess Rostislav (now the Hon. Mrs Russell) is Christia (b.at Rockford, Illinois, 3 April, 1949), daughter of Harold Noregaard Ipsen, and the former Lorraine Wrobel. She married Prince Rostislav as his second wife, at Lake Forest, Illinois, 12 August, 1980, and has issue, Princess Alexandra (b. 1983), Prince Rostislav (b. 1985), & Prince Nikita, (b. 1987).

Mr Russell is the father of two daughters from his 1980 marriage to April McKenzie Arbon, younger daughter of Paul Arbon, of New York, United States.

The engagement was announced 8 April, 2005, between Guy Ewan Macpherson-Grant of Ballindalloch (b. 1968), Page of Honour to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, 1981-83, elder son of Mr Oliver Henry Russell (b. 1942), scion of the Barons Ampthill and of the Dukes of Bedford, of Ballindalloch, Banffshire, by his wife, the former Clare Nancy Macpherson-Grant (b. 1944), and Victoria Houston Bowden (b. 1973), daughter of Mr Aubrey Francis Houston Bowden (b. 1940), scion of the Bowden Baronets (cr. 1915), of Winkfield, Berkshire, by his wife, the former Mary Julia Colville (b. 1947), scion of the Viscounts Colville of Culross.

Guy Macpherson-Grant is a grandson maternally of the late Sir Ewan George Macpherson-Grant, 6th Baronet (Extinct)

(Hester) Clere Russell (nee Parsons), who died at Hastings, 16 March, 2007, aged 87,was b. 1920, scion of the Earls of Rosse (cr. 1806), dau of the Rev Canon Richard Edward Parsons (1888-1871), by his wife Hester Katherine Drummond, scion of the Earls of Perth; married 1940, David Hastings Gerald Russell (b. 1915; d.), scion of the Russell Barons Ampthill (themselves cadets of the Dukes of Bedford); by whom she had issue, (i) Wriotesley and (ii) Rupert; Funeral at St Bartholomew's Church, Burwash, 26 March.

Victoria Macpherson-Grant (b 1973, nee Bowden), wife of Guy Ewan Macpherson-Grant of Ballindalloch (b. 1968),

Trenchard (b 1977), son of the Hon John Hugo Trenchard RUSSELL (b
1950), half brother of the present (4th) Baron AMPTHILL and son of the
3rd Baron by his 2nd w, and his 1st w Susanna Helen (b 1954) dau of
Peter Hugh Kennedy MERRIAM (b 1922), gs of the 3rd Marquess of AILSA.
The child is 6th in line to the barony of Ampthill.

___The 4th Baron Ampthill, CBE, deputy Speaker of the House of Lords, died 23 April, 2011. He was 89. He was the baby of the famous "Russell Baby Case" --- one of the most famous divorce/paternity cases of the 20th century.
